CD79b
CD79B (Cluster of Differentiation 79B, immunoglobulin-associated beta) is a B lymphocyte antigen receptor that is also known as B29, IGB, or AGM6. It is a cell surface localized B cell receptor (BCR) that contains one immunoglobulin-like V-type domain and one ITAM domain. In cooperation with CD79A, CD79B is involved in the initiation of downstream signal transduction cascade upon the activation by B-cell antigen receptor complex, during which it is phosphorylated. Subsequently, the activated B-cell antigen receptor complex is internalized and trafficked to late endosomes for antigen presentation.
Overexpression of CD79B is associated with lymphoma and its capacity for receptor mediated endocytosis renders CD79B an ideal target for the treatment of cancers such as leukemia by using ADC-based targeted immunotherapies.
