FCRL5
Fc receptor like 5 (FCRL5), also known as CD307, FCRH5, BXMAS1, CD307e, PRO820, or more commonly, IRTA2, is a single-pass type I membrane protein that belongs to both the immunoglobulin receptor superfamily and the Fc-receptor like family. It contains eight Ig-like C2-type domains in the extracellular region and two immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitor motifs (ITIM) in the cytoplasmic portion. FCRL5 is involved in B cell development, differentiation, as well as lymphomagenesis. The expression pattern of FCRL5 correlates with its biological function. Normally, it is expressed in marginal zone B-cells, immunoblasts, tonsillar germinal center centrocytes as well as in the intraepithelial and interfollicular regions of the tonsil.
FCRL5 is used as a biomarker for different B cell stages while its abnormal expression is observed in several lymphoma cell lines and on hairy cell leukemia cells, making FCRL5 an appealing target for their treatment using antibody-bases agents such as antibody-drug conjugates.
