KDR
Kinase insert domain receptor (KDR), also known as Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2), belongs to the family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) and contains seven immunoglobulin-like repeats in their extracellular domains. The mature VEGFR-2 is formed of a 745-aa residue extracellular domain, a 25-aa residue transmembrane domain and a 567-aa residue cytoplasmic domain.
According to the previous studies, VEGFR-2 expression level is exclusively confined to the endothelial cells. Multiple factors are related to the signaling and trafficking of this receptor, for example, Rab GTPase, integrin alphaVbeta3, T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase. VEGFR-2 plays essential roles as the main mediator in VEGF-induced endothelial proliferation, survival, and migration.
