Available Aptamer Targets

Creative Biolabs provides a range of ready-to-use aptamers targeting proteins, compounds, bacteria, viruses and cells. You can find ones of interest and the products with high purity and strict QC will be delivered for you.

What are Aptamers?

Aptamers are single-stranded oligonucleotides or peptides that bind specifically to target molecules, offering a unique solution in molecular recognition and binding. Aptamers can be made of either nucleic acids (DNA or RNA) or peptides. These two main categories define their structure and function.

Aptamers vs. Antibodies

Though aptamers and antibodies both recognize specific target molecules, aptamers offer several distinct advantages over antibodies.

Aptamer Antibody
Synthesis and Production Chemical synthesis in vitro Animal-based production methods
Stability Highly stable under a wide range of conditions Sensitive to temperature and pH changes
Non-immunogenic Do not trigger immune responses A key limitation of many therapeutic antibodies
Size Small size (<30KDa) Large size (~150KDa)
Assays No secondary reagent is needed Secondary antibody is needed
Modification Easy to chemically modify Difficult to chemically modify

Aptamers represent a powerful and versatile class of molecules with a broad spectrum of applications in diagnostics, therapeutics, and research. Their unique properties, including high specificity, chemical versatility, and rapid synthesis, position them as key tools in modern biotechnology. As research continues to push the boundaries of aptamer technology, Creative Biolabs is poised to lead the next generation of innovation in aptamer development and application.

Key Features of Our Aptamers

Applications

Aptamers are widely used in basic research to study biological processes. By binding to specific proteins, aptamers can inhibit or regulate protein function, providing a powerful method for studying protein interactions and signaling pathways.

Published Data

Presented are findings showcased within articles pertaining to aptamer development:

Fig. 1 Isolated aptamers recognize target proteins in Western blot. (Wang, Yao, et al., 2020)Fig. 1 Isolated aptamers specifically recognize target proteins in Western blot.1

Yao Wang et al. screened DNA aptamers for several commonly labeled proteins and developed an aptamer-based western blotting technique that requires fewer steps and reduces nonspecific binding. Aptamer-based protein recognition analysis was able to selectively label target proteins from complex mixtures and provide a clearer background than conventional antibody-based western blotting. Finally, aptamers are also capable of recognizing fusion proteins carrying these tags, thus greatly expanding the potential applications of such aptamers. This study provides a useful molecular tool for selective protein identification in western blot analysis.

Questions & Answer

A: Our aptamers can bind to a wide range of targets, including proteins, peptides, small molecules, and even whole cells or viruses. We also offer custom aptamer selection services through SELEX. This allows us to develop aptamers that are specific to your research target. We work closely with our clients to ensure the aptamer is tailored to their unique requirements.

A: You can browse our comprehensive product catalog online, which includes a wide range of pre-designed aptamers for various research applications. If you’re unsure which aptamer is best suited for your research, our technical support team is available to assist you in selecting the appropriate aptamer based on your target and experimental conditions. If the aptamer you need is not available, we can also discuss custom aptamer development options.

A: We usually offer aptamer in lyophilized form and also offer aptamer in solution if you have special needs. Lyophilized aptamers are stable for extended periods and can be easily reconstituted in your desired buffer or solvent. We also provide modified aptamers, including fluorescently labeled, biotinylated, and chemically stabilized versions, to suit different experimental setups. If you require a custom format, we can accommodate those requests as well.
