Introduction | The complement component 1q (C1q) is a protein complex with 18 peptide chains in 3 subunits, which are C1qA, C1qB, and C1qC. Meanwhile, the C1q, together with C1r and C1s, is a subunit of the C1 enzyme complex serving as an activator in the complement system. The C1q complex was activated once it binds to antigen-antibody complexes in an immune response. Additionally, the C1q complex tends to be attached to the immunoglobulin complement fixation sites, which are located in the CH2 domain of IgG, and the CH4 domain of IgM. As an important member of the complement system, C1q deficiency is closely associated with Lupus Erythematosus and Glomerulonephritis. |
