Although subcutaneous tumor models have become popular in anti-cancer studies, these models seldom metastasize from the subcutaneous site even if the original tumors are confirmed to be metastatic. And, orthotopic models appear to more closely mimic the metastases observed in cancer patients. With excellent professional skills, Creative Biolabs has successfully established dozens of orthotopic tumor models for our worldwide clients to evaluate in vivo efficacy of novel agents against cancer. Additionally, more orthotopic models for common human cancers are in research and development.

Orthotopic Tumor Models

Compared with the standard subcutaneous tumor models, orthotopic models are supposed to be more clinically correlative and better forecasting for drug effect. By virtue of the fact that tumor cells are implanted into the origin or organ directly, these tumors could image the original situation (such as microenvironment) much better than the conventional subcutaneous tumor modes. Implanting the Luciferase gene-transfected tumor cells into the animal models orthotopically allows non-invasively vital visualization of tumor growth, distribution, and growth of metastases via bioluminescence imaging (BLI).

Features

  • Allows evaluation of tumor growth in a complimentary environment
  • Allows efficacy evaluation in a preclinical tumor model mimicking the disease process in patients
  • Permits a more representative method of primary tumor growth, metastatic activity and response to therapy scenarios to be more accurately quantified

Orthotopic tumor models are preferably suitable for evaluating the efficacy of novel anti-cancer medicine candidates. The organ-specific microenvironment making tumor growth exactly the same with the origin one.

With decades of experience in the industry of animal model and excellent professional skills, Creative Biolabs has established a variety of effective human as well as murine cell lines and offers validated orthotopic tumor models (both syngeneic and xenograft) for your research on novel anti-cancer drug discovery. In addition, we also provide customized model which can be performed with cell lines provided by our customers and customized drug evaluation service.

Following is the list of commonly used tumor cell lines available in Creative Biolabs, which including but not limited to:
