Description
CHO dhfr--Tg(Human KiSS1 Receptor) Division-Arrested Cell was engineered to express the receptor human KiSS1 (NM_032551). This cell line can be used to study KiSS1 receptor function, signaling pathways, and potential therapeutic interventions. Dividing-arrest cells are cells that are normally kept under specific culture conditions or treated with agents that prevent cell division from being held in a non-dividing state. This can be achieved through methods such as serum starvation, chemical inhibitors of cell cycle progression, or genetic modification.

Background
The Kisspeptin receptor KiSS1 is also known as metastin receptor or GPR54. Kisspeptin is a metastasis suppressor protein that suppresses metastasis in malignant melanomas and in some breast carcinomas without affecting tumorigenicity. The metastasis suppressor properties may be mediated in part by cell cycle arrest and induction of apoptosis in malignant cells. The KiSS1 receptor is involved in thyroid cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma.
