Short Decsription
Three-reagent hematoxylin-basic fuchsin-picric acid staining kit for detecting myocardial changes after ischemia or myocardial infarction. The H.B.F.P. kit is a non-enzymatic histochemical technique for the detection of early myocardial ischemia with striking contrast.
Description
The histological diagnosis of early myocardial infarction ischemia is very delicate using standard hematoxylin-eosin histological methods and light microscopy. The reason for this is the minimal histopathological changes that occur on the myocardium during the first six hours of symptom onset. However, staining of sections using a kit consisting of hematoxylin, basic fuchsin, and picric acid allows a histological overview of the early changes in the myocardium caused by ischemia or myocardial infarction.
