Short Decsription
Creative Biolabs offers BALB/c Mouse Splenocytes, Irradiated for using as antigen presenting cells, stimulation/feeder cells or target cells in a wide variety of immunology-based applications.
Description
BALB/c mouse splenocytes that have been irradiated refer to cells from the spleen of a BALB/c mouse that have been exposed to ionizing radiation. Irradiated splenocytes are often used in research settings to stimulate T cell responses or support the growth and expansion of other cell types in co-culture experiments.
Species character
The BALB/c mouse is a commonly-used inbred mouse strain for the study of autoimmune diseases and pathogen-driven immune response. They carry the H-2d haplotype and their immune cells are routinely used in immune-based assays.
Background
A splenocyte can be any one of the different white blood cell types as long as it is situated in the spleen or purified from splenic tissue. Splenocytes consist of a variety of cell populations such as T and B lymphocytes, dendritic cells and macrophages, which have different immune functions.
