Description
The CHO-Tg(Human BCMA//Human CD20)-Luc reporter cell line is a cell line derived from Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells that has been genetically engineered to express both human BCMA (B-cell maturation antigen) and human CD20 on its cell surface. In addition, the cell line also carries a luciferase reporter gene, allowing for easy detection of BCMA and CD20 signaling activity. This cell line is commonly used in research studies and drug development efforts aimed at targeting BCMA and CD20.

Background
BCMA (B-Cell Maturation Antigen) and CD20 (Cluster of Differentiation 20) are both genes that play important roles in the immune system and specifically in the function of B cells. BCMA is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily and is primarily expressed on the surface of plasma cells and certain B cell subsets. BCMA is involved in the proliferation and survival of plasma cells, which are responsible for producing antibodies to fight infection.
CD20 is a cell surface protein that is exclusively expressed on B cells, from the pre-B cell stage to mature B cells. CD20 is involved in B cell activation, differentiation, and antibody production.
Both BCMA and CD20 have been targeted for therapeutic purposes in the treatment of certain B cell-related diseases, such as multiple myeloma and certain types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Therapies targeting these genes can either stimulate the immune response against cancer cells or directly kill the cancer cells themselves.
