Seven-reagent kit for staining muscle and collagen fibers with blue counterstain. It is also used to visualize gametes, nuclei, neurofibrils, glial cells, keratin, and intercellular fibrils. The kit can be used to detect collagen in diseases such as smooth muscle cancer or liver cirrhosis.
Description
The Masson Trichrome kit is used for visualization of muscle, collagen fibers, connective tissue, gametes, nuclei, neurofibrils, glial cells, collagen, fibrils within keratinocytes, and negative Golgi staining. The method uses three dyes, during which the aniline blue dye binds to muscle and collagen fibers. It is also used to visualize increased collagen accumulation associated with functional tissue that is mistaken for scar tissue (diagnosis of cirrhosis), and to differentiate between smooth muscle fibers and collagen.
