Description
YY1, also named DELTA, INO80S, and NF-E1, contains four C2H2-type zinc fingers and belongs to the YY transcription factor family. YY1 is a multifunctional transcription factor that regulates cellular and viral genes positively and negatively by binding to transcription start sites. It directs histone deacetylases and acetyltransferases to promoters, implicating histone modifications in its action. YY1 plays a fundamental role in embryogenesis, differentiation, replication, and proliferation.
