Short Decsription
Seven -reagent kit for the detection of arginophilic reticulin fibers. It clearly differentiates between collagen and reticulin as well as nerve fibers and connective tissue. The main function of reticular fibers is to provide support and are usually found in the liver, lymph nodes, spleen, and kidneys.
Description
The Reticulin kit is used to identify and more easily visualize Argentaffin reticular fibers in connective tissue. Reticulin provides structural support. It is found in the liver, spleen and kidneys. Reticulin fibers are well-defined in healthy livers; necrotic and cirrhotic livers have discontinuous fibers. Visualization of silver deposition on reticulin-based fibers. Tissue samples must be oxidized with potassium permanganate. Silver is formed from an ammonia solution containing silver nitrate and is deposited on reticulin fibers as a brown precipitate. Formalin acts as a reducing agent and speeds up the process. Unbound silver was washed away using sodium thiosulfate.
