Creative Biolabs has been devoted to developing and optimizing various NHP models for preclinical studies, especially immune disease models, including allergic asthma, allergic rhinitis and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). As one professional and trustworthy research partner of our global clients, we are glad to leverage our advanced resources and extensive expertise to assist their cutting-edge drug development projects.
What is allergic asthma?
Human allergic asthma is defined as a chronic disease of lung airways. Typical symptoms include episodes of wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath, etc. Meanwhile, airway structural changes may also occur, like subepithelial and airway wall fibrosis, smooth muscle thickening, goblet cell hyperplasia/metaplasia, and increased vascularity. All these changes, aka airway remodeling, can further exacerbate the disease by repeated exposure to the allergen.
Advantages of non-human primates (NHPs) models
Non-human primate shares high degree of similarity with human beings in terms of immunology, physiology, histopathology and many other aspects. NHP disease model of asthma can well resemble the pathophysiological characteristics of human asthma. Hence, they are very valuable objects for understanding the mechanism and evaluating therapeutic interventions of asthma.
Allergic asthma models provided by Creative Biolabs
Preclinical allergic asthma models can be induced by different allergens, e.g. ovalbumin (OVA), house dust mite (HDM), and cockroach allergen (CRA). Allergic asthma has been developed in rhesus or cynomolgus monkeys using important human allergens, including house dust mite and the birch pollen allergens, Bet V1 and V2. In general, animals need to be deliberately sensitized with these allergens, although spontaneous allergic sensitization to dust mite and cedar pollen occurs in monkeys. The sensitization process of the induced asthma models is highly controlled, permitting strict standardization of the model.
Creative Biolabs provides well-tailored asthma models according to customers' needs. A comprehensive portfolio of evaluations can also be conducted, including but not limited to:
Creative Biolabs has long been dedicated to presenting world-class NHP disease models and one-stop research services to our global clients. In addition to allergic asthma, we are also experienced in constructing diverse NHP models, such as neurological disease, metabolic disorders, liver disease, urogenital disease, and renal disease.
