Human Colon Cell HCT-116-based Proliferation Assay Service
HCT-116 is a commonly used human colon cancer cell line in research. This cell line is known for its high proliferation rate, which makes it suitable for studying cell growth and division in colon cancer. Creative Biolabs offers a luminescence-based assay that can be used in HCT-116 human colon cells to assess tumor cell proliferation. This assay measures the metabolic activity of cells, which indicates cell proliferation.
HCT-116-based Proliferation Assay at Creative Biolabs
In a proliferation assay using HCT-116 cells, Creative Biolabs typically seed a certain number of cells in a culture dish and monitor their growth over a period of time. Various techniques can be used to measure cell proliferation, including cell counting, dye-based assays, and real-time monitoring systems. By assessing the proliferation of HCT-116 cells under different experimental conditions, you can gain insights into the mechanisms that regulate cell growth and division in colon cancer.

Assay Procedure
This luminescence-based tumor cell proliferation assay in HCT-116 human colon cells is a quick and sensitive method to assess the anti-proliferative effects of compounds or treatments on tumor cells. It can be used to screen potential anti-cancer drugs or study the molecular mechanisms of tumor cell growth and proliferation.
-
Process details
-
Culture HCT-116 cells in DMEM-supplemented FBS and penicillin-streptomycin solution in a cell culture incubator at 37°C with 5% CO2.
-
Seed HCT-116 cells in a 96-well tissue culture plate and allow them to adhere overnight.
-
Treat the cells with different concentrations of test compounds or control substances for the desired time period.
-
At the end of the treatment period, add the cell proliferation reagent to each well.
-
Incubate the plates at 37°C in a cell culture incubator to allow the proliferation reagent to be converted by viable cells into a soluble formazan dye.
-
Measure the absorbance of the formazan dye at 450 nm using a microplate reader.
