Two-reagent thimerosal-iodine-formalin kit for fixation and staining of fecal parasites, especially protozoa, cysts, helminth eggs and larvae. Fecal samples were formalin-fixed and stained with two stains; iodine and eosin Y.

The M.I.F. kit from Creative Biolabs is a quick and easy way to detect parasites in feces, especially protozoa (amoeba). This method simultaneously fixes and stains samples by providing the best images to view the nuclear structures required to identify certain protozoa. The vegetative and cystic forms of the parasite have different dye affinities. The M.I.F. kit is able to differentially stain parasites and concentrate parasite elements on the sediment surface.
