Short Decsription
Creative Biolabs offers CHO-K1-Tg(Human 5-HT6 Receptor) Division-Arrested Cell which 5-HT6 receptor stably expressed in CHO-K1 cells.
Description
CHO-K1-Tg(Human 5-HT6 Receptor) Division-Arrested Cell was engineered to express the receptor human 5-HT6 (NM_000871). This cell line can be used to study 5-HT6 receptor function, signaling pathways, and potential therapeutic interventions. Dividing-arrest cells are cells that are normally kept under specific culture conditions or treated with agents that prevent cell division from being held in a non-dividing state. This can be achieved through methods such as serum starvation, chemical inhibitors of cell cycle progression, or genetic modification.

Background
Human 5-HT6 receptors are G protein-coupled receptors. The cDNA encodes a 440-amino-acid polypeptide. Human 5-HT6 receptors are G protein- coupled receptors. The cDNA encodes a 440-amino-acid polypeptide. The 5-HT6 receptors are expressed exclusively in brain regions such as striatum, cortex, nucleus accumbens, olfactory tubercle, hippocampus, hypothalamus, amygdala and cerebellum. The 5-HT6 receptors appear to regulate GABAergic, glutamatergic and cholinergic neurotransmission and are involved in the regulation of cognition, feeding and sleep/wake regulation. They may also play a role in mediating the effects of some antipsychotic agents, and in modulating sensory gating which is often affected in schizophrenic patients.
