Toxicological Evaluation of Venom Peptides

Why Do Toxicological Evaluation

Venom is a complex mixture of proteins, small molecules, and peptides. Most venoms have certain biological activities, including toxicity, such as neurotoxicity, cytotoxicity, etc. Scorpion venom has been shown to be composed of cytotoxic peptides, neurotoxins, and proteases. Among them, neurotoxins make up a significant part of the total protein of the venom, and they have the effect of modulating sodium and potassium channels. However, after being bitten by a venomous scorpion, it can cause side effects such as redness, swelling, blisters, nausea and vomiting, and arrhythmia. Therefore, toxicity testing of venom and its constituents is very important for the safety assessment of drugs. Creative Biolabs provides customized venom peptide toxicity testing services to simplify and accelerate the client's project process.
