Brain-Immune-Gut Interaction Study
Aided by in-house scientists and advanced technology platforms, Creative Biolabs has launched comprehensive services related brain-immune-gut-based integrative studies for global clients to speed up the project’s development.
Background of Brain-Immune-Gut Axis
The brain-immune-gut axis has been a hot topic of research during the past decade. And the interactions between the gut microbiota, peripheral immune system, and central nervous system (CNS) play crucial roles in the maintaining of host health. Which covers several biological networks involving the immune system, neuroendocrine system, neural network, and metabolic pathways.
Specifically, identifying microbial derivatives such as microbe-associated molecular patterns (MAMPs), as well as microbial metabolic by-products (short-chain fatty acids, SCFAs) can activate different immune pathways of the host. Then, the microbiota and immune system can regulate neurophysiology independently or cooperatively. Conversely, biochemical alterations in the central nervous system could also contribute to changes in microbial composition and immune responses by the HPA axis. Altogether, these items showed bidirectional communication between the microbiome, the immune system, and the central nervous system. Future studies of these bidirectional interactions will also inform the development of new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of neurological disorders.
