Our scientists with extensive experience and expertise will save your precious time and effort in your research.
IL-1 Functions in T Cell Activation
Interleukin-1 (IL-1) cytokines are key proinflammatory cytokines that have been implicated with differing pro- and antitumorigenic properties. It is a general name for two distinct proteins, IL-1α and IL-1β. IL-1β is solely active in its secreted form, whereas IL-1α is mainly active in cell-associated forms (intracellular precursor and membrane-bound IL-1alpha) and only rarely as a secreted cytokine. These two cytokines, so often grouped together, have been shown to have different physiological and biological effects in different cancer types.
IL-1 support anti-tumor immunity by:
-
Activating lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, and NK cells;
-
Promoting the differentiation of monocytes into conventional dendritic cells (DCs) and their ability to induce T cell activation;
-
Promoting T cell activation and enhancing the cytotoxicity of CD8+ T cells;
-
Promoting the differentiation of naïve CD4 T cells into Th17 cells;
-
Promoting neutrophil recruitment.

Engineering Cancer Cells with IL-1 Overexpression Service
Tumor cells are generally thought to be poorly immunogenic. A variety of cytokines have been used to generate immunogenic tumor cells by gene modification. Immunization with tumors expressing certain cytokines has demonstrated their ability to promote the generation of tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes by various mechanisms. In many situations, preimmunization with such gene-modified tumor cells elicited long-lasting protective immunity.
Cancer gene therapy approaches utilizing cells modified with IL-1 genes seem to represent a novel promising approach. Creative Biolabs provides cancer cell modification services to improve antitumor immunity. Our services cover various types of tumors (including hematologic tumors and solid tumors) and a variety of cancer cell lines (including adherent cells and suspension cells). Our dedicated team has a proven record of delivering quality and timely results, with over a decade of experience in hundreds of cell lines. Our services and expertise can help clients meet appropriate requirements to advance their cancer immunotherapy.
