Functions of M-CSF
Macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF, CSF1) is a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates the growth and differentiation of the monocyte lineage, and promotes the survival, proliferation, and functions of mature monocytes/macrophages. M-CSF is widely produced by a variety of cells. It is present in two distinct biologically active forms, a membrane-bound form (mM-CSF) and a secreted form (sM-CSF).
M-CSF functions
-
M-CSF affects macrophages and monocytes in several ways, including stimulating increased phagocytic and chemotactic activity, and increased tumor cell cytotoxicity.
-
M-CSF regulates the numbers of various tissue macrophage and monocyte populations and induces monocytes to differentiate into macrophages.
-
High levels of M-CSF in tumors are associated with M2 macrophage polarization.

Studies Performed with M-CSF Overexpressing Tumor Cells
-
A study showed vaccination with mM-CSF transfected tumor cells provided a method of generating effective anti-tumor immune responses by macrophages and cytotoxic T cells against the parental Hepa1-6 cells.
-
Studies showed that genetically M-CSF-expressing mouse lymphoid cell line, L1210, induced augmentation of antitumor immunity in the mouse model.
Engineering Cancer Cells with M-CSF Overexpression Service
M-CSF promotes the survival, proliferation, and functions of mature monocytes/macrophages which is the main source of growth factors and cytokines that attract and stimulate the T-lymphocytes. Cancer gene therapy approaches utilizing cancer cells modified with M-CSF genes seem to represent a novel promising approach that induces antitumor immunity. Creative Biolabs has developed a custom cancer cell line engineering services platform that can generate overexpression of M-CSF on tumor cells. Based on the most cutting-edge technology and equipment, we can handle various cancer cell lines and achieve M-CSF overexpression through a series of technologies including viral vectors and non-viral vectors, and transfection methods. Thorough validation and testing are performed to ensure that the cell lines meet your requirements. We believe you can achieve more on innovative research and get your next breakthrough in cancer therapy with the help of Creative Biolabs.
Our cell engineering services cover a range of different cancer cell lines, including:
