Creative Biolabs is one of the leading providers of custom antibody generation and development services. We specialize in the generation of antibodies against a wide range of targets for R&D, diagnostic, and therapeutic applications. Especially, we have launched a series of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services targeting numerous diagnostic biomarkers of human cancer diseases. Here, we focus on the ADAM10 as a marker of ovarian cancer.

A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase Domain-Containing Protein 10 (ADAM10)

A Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 10, also known as ADAM10 or CDw156 or CD156c, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ADAM10 gene. Members of the ADAM family are cell surface proteins with a unique structure possessing both potential adhesion and protease domains. Sheddase, a generic name for the ADAM metallopeptidase, functions primarily to cleave membrane proteins at the cellular surface. Once cleaved, the sheddases release soluble ectodomains with an altered location and function. Although a single sheddase may “shed” a variety of substances, multiple sheddases can cleave the same substrate resulting in different consequences. This gene encodes an ADAM family member that cleaves many proteins including TNF-alpha and E-cadherin.

ADAM10 Marker of Ovarian Cancer

In humans, the ADAM family of proteases comprises 22 proteins, of which only half have proteolytic activity. The expression of ADAM proteins varies; many are exclusively or predominantly expressed in the testis or associated structures, others are broadly somatically expressed. The role of the ADAM proteases in cellular function is multifaceted. Ectodomain shedding of membrane proteins by ADAMs regulates proliferation, cell adhesion, and migration, and is involved in cell signaling. They play important roles in cancer formation, progression, and resistance to therapy. Substrates for ADAMs include growth factors, cytokines, receptors, as well as adhesion molecules, including EGFR ligands, TNF-α, CD16, and CD44. Moreover, a recent study identified ADAM10 to be involved in the progression of ovarian cancer. It is involved in cancer progression and predicts adverse outcome.

IVD Antibody Development Service Targeting ADAM10 Marker

Antibodies are core elements for antibody-based immunoassays for detecting and quantifying antigens of interest in all kinds of samples such as serum, urine, and tissue preparations. IVD antibodies are extensively used for disease screening, prognosis, and therapeutic monitoring. With our versatile IVD platform, Creative Biolabs is proud to develop novel ADAM10-specific antibody pairs from scratch to commercial IVD kits.

Our team consists of highly skilled and experienced scientists and professionals, fully dedicated and focused on the successful execution and completion of client projects. If you are interested in our services, please contact us to discuss your project needs.
