Creative Biolabs is one of the leading providers of custom antibody generation and development services for R&D, diagnostic, and therapeutic applications. Especially, we have launched a series of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services targeting numerous diagnostic biomarkers of human cancer diseases. Here, we focus on the EMMPRIN as a marker of ovarian cancer.

Extracellular Matrix Metalloproteinase Inducer (EMMPRIN)

EMMPRIN, also known as Basigin (BSG) or cluster of differentiation 147 (CD147), is a protein that in humans is encoded by the BSG gene. EMMPRIN has been shown to be an essential receptor on red blood cells for the human malaria parasite, and Plasmodium falciparum. EMMPRIN is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, with a structure related to the putative primordial form of the family. As members of the immunoglobulin superfamily play fundamental roles in intercellular recognition involved in various immunologic phenomena, differentiation, and development, EMMPRIN is thought also to play a role in intercellular recognition. In addition to its metalloproteinase-inducing ability, EMMPRIN also regulates several distinct functions, such as spermatogenesis, expression of the monocarboxylate transporter and the responsiveness of lymphocytes.

EMMPRIN Marker of Ovarian Cancer

EMMPRIN, an extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer, is overexpressed in ovarian cancers. Current knowledge suggests that EMMPRIN is associated with the survival and progression of ovarian cancer and is considered as a biomarker of poor outcome. EMMPRIN promotes ovarian cancer progression through its involvement in every facet of malignancy, including invasion, metastasis, survival, angiogenesis, and drug resistance. Although it is not fully confirmed, the combination of EMMPRIN with other biomarkers might be of diagnostic value. Besides, in ovarian primary mucinous tumors, EMMPRIN may play an important role in tumor progression from benign tumor to carcinoma. In that context, EMMPRIN and fascin expression may have potential application in the differential diagnosis of some diagnostically problematic mucinous ovarian tumors.

IVD Antibody Development Service Targeting EMMPRIN Marker

Antibodies are core elements for antibody-based immunoassays for detecting and quantifying antigens of interest in all kinds of samples such as serum, urine, and tissue preparations. IVD antibodies are extensively used for disease screening, prognosis, and therapeutic monitoring. With our versatile IVD platform, Creative Biolabs is proud to develop novel EMMPRIN-specific antibody (pairs) from scratch to commercial IVD kits.

Our team consists of highly skilled and experienced scientists and professionals, fully dedicated and focused on the successful execution and completion of client projects. If you are interested in our services, please contact us to discuss your project needs.
