Cellular Senescence & Aging

Aging is a multifaceted process involving various biological mechanisms, including genomic instability, telomere attrition, and oxidative stress, which can all lead to the senescence of cells. Senescent cells accumulate in many tissues with advancing age and can drive many of the conditions associated with old age, including diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis. These senescent cells not only lose their ability to perform their original function, but they also produce inflammatory molecules, known as the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), that can disrupt the function of neighboring cells and stimulate their progression into senescence, leading to various age-related disorders. Given the potential harm of senescent cells, a lot of research has gone into developing therapies that can selectively eliminate them - a concept known as senolytics. At Creative Biolabs, we are dedicated to developing CAR-T cells that specifically target these senescent cells. By identifying unique markers on senescent cells, we design CAR to guide T-cells to recognize and eliminate these cells.
