Studying the development of cancer cells, including signal transduction pathways and other types of cell-to-cell communication between immune cells and tumors, is essential for generating and evaluating CAR-T treatments to prevent the growth and spread of these cancer cells. To accomplish this difficult task, researchers need the best tumor model, a suitable in vivo platform, and conduct research that can accurately summarize the complex tumor microenvironment to generate translation-related data.

Breast cancer is a fatal solid tumor with the highest rate of metastasis, the worst prognosis, and limited treatment options. New research continues to push the boundary of CAR-T capabilities to treat breast cancer. Creative Biolabs has developed a research-ready humanized NSG model to test CAR-T therapy for breast cancer and can be shipped to your institution immediately or for efficacy studies at our institution.

Why humanized mice?

You may have noticed that the latest biomedical breakthroughs are using more and more humanized mice. But what is a humanized mouse and why do scientists use this type of model?

Humanized mice are usually injected with specific human stem cells that are usually derived from fetal tissue or umbilical cord blood in mice with little or no immune system. These cells produce human T cells, B cells, and other immune cells in mice, allowing scientists to explore how the human immune system attacks many diseases. Therefore, the humanized mouse can become a more powerful human model to better study the problems of human development and disease.

If you are looking for humanized mice implanted with patient-derived xenograft (PDX) tumors, Creative Biolabs offers a variety of these mice, which we call Onco-Hu™ NSG mice, breast cancer is of course included. These mice are a powerful platform conducive to proof-of-concept testing of novel immunotherapies targeting T cells or bone marrow cells. This model is dual implanted with human CD34 + HSC/PBMC.

Hu-NSG PDX/CDX Model Capabilities

Our Hu-NSG mouse models have a higher degree of immunodeficiency. It lacks NK cells while lacking T cells and B cells, and innate immunity is compromised. The Hu-NSG model is very suitable for human tumor cell transplantation (CDX), human tumor tissue transplantation (PDX) for immune reconstruction.

Highlights

  • Convenient - PDX mice can be used for research and can express human immune cells.
  • Consistent - every mouse has been tested for humanity.
  • Stable - the implantation of hematopoietic cells provides a research platform for further research.
  • License - free-no additional licensing fees or royalties.

In addition to the Hu-NSG breast cancer model, additional live models are also available:

  • Bladder cancer
  • Colon cancer
  • Lung cancer
  • Ovarian cancer
  • Pancreatic cancer
  • Prostate cancer

Applications in CAR-T Therapy Evaluation

Hu-NSG PDX model is an ideal choice for long-term in vivo research in the field of immunology and cell therapy because they have a life span of more than 12 months. Specifically, they can be used to evaluate the CAR-T therapies including but not limited to: monitor CAR-T distribution in vivo, determine CAR-T persistency, and monitor Cytokine Release Syndromes
