Complement C5 convertase is an enzyme composed of C4b2b3b in the classical pathway and C3bBbC3b in the alternative pathway of complement system. These two C5 convertases all are able to specifically convert the protein C5 to C5a and C5b fragments. C5 convertases play important roles the complement system and the innate immunity.
