Introduction	Once complement C5a is produced, it rapidly metabolised inti C5a desArg by a serum enzyme carboxypeptidase B through removal of the C terminal arginine. Compared with C5a, C5a des-Arg is a much less potent anaphylatoxin that alsi induces C5a biological activities.
