ICOSL

ICOSL is a protein that in humans is encoded by ICOSL gene. ICOSLG promotes an 'entangled' mode of follicular T-helper/B-cell interactions, characterized by brief but extensive surface engagement, productive T-cell calcium spikes, and B-cell acquisition of CD40 signals. Reiterated entanglement promotes outer zone colocalization of outcompeting germinal center B cells together with follicular T-helper cells, affording the former increased access to T-cell help. ICOSLG on germinal center B cells is upregulated by CD40 signals.
