LMP1, also called LMP3, PDZ and LIM domain protein 7 (PDLIM7), is encoded by PDLIM7 gene, which is representative of a family of proteins composed of conserved PDZ and LIM domains. The LIM domains have a function in the protein-protein recognition in a variety of context including gene transcription and development an in cytoskeletal interaction. With respect to PDZ, this domain localized the LIM-binding proteins to actin filaments of both skeletal muscle and nonmuscle tissues. LMP1 is associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
