Overview
Introduction of NAA
Natural autoantibodies (NAA) are a kind of antibodies which have a moderate affinity for self-antigens, including insulin, DNA, thyroglobulin, nucleoproteins and phospholipids, and these biomolecules are also targeted during the progression of autoimmune disorders. NAA arise independently of antigenic or mitogenic stimulation and can be detected in the sera of healthy or sick individuals. NAA are particularly IgM isotype, with a less extent of IgG and IgA isotypes. Low-serum titer, low-affinity to antigens, polyreactivity and connectivity are the main characteristics of NAA.

Significance
Clinical Significance of NAA Service
In the early stage of some diseases, NAA are biologically amplified and hence may be measurable early on, making them promising biomarkers to discriminate the pathological changes from healthy tissue accurately. We provide high-resolution epitope mapping service of NAA by translating one or more antigens into overlapping peptides. Incubation of the resulting peptide microarray with serum sample gives rise to spot patterns that correlate with the epitope of the given sample.
