HCRTR1

This gene encodes a protein that is a G-protein coupled receptor that controls eating behavior. The hypothalamic neuropeptide orexin A is preferentially bound by the encoded protein. Orexin A and orexin B are bound by a G-protein coupled receptor that is encoded by the homologous gene HCRTR2. Among the illnesses linked to HCRTR1 are Rohhad and Narcolepsy. Orexin, neuropeptides FF and QRFP, which bind to their respective receptors and Class A, are among its linked pathways. This gene has annotations for G protein-coupled receptor function and peptide hormone binding in the Gene Ontology (GO) database.
