Introduction
Candida albicans is a common member of the human gut flora and one of the most common groups of organisms that cause hospital-acquired infections. C. albicans is commonly used as a model organism for biology. It is often referred to as a dimorphic fungus because it grows both as yeast and filamentous cells. The genome of C. albicans is almost 16 Mb for the haploid size and consists of 8 sets of chromosome pairs called chr1A, chr2A, chr3A, chr4A, chr5A, chr6A, chr7A and chrRA. The entire genome contains 6198 Open Reading Frames (ORFs), 70% of which of have not yet been characterized.
