Clostridium Tetani
Target
Tetanus toxin (TT) antibody
Applications
Used for detection of antibodies or as a carrier protein for conjugate vaccines.
Introduction
Tetanus toxoid is prepared by inactivation of the toxins from the vegetative cell of Clostridium tetani which generally enter through a break in the skin, such as cutting or stabbing contaminated objects, causing tetanus. Tetanus toxoid (MW 150,000) has 106 amine groups, 10 sulfhydryls, 81 tyrosine residues, and 14 histidines which may be involved in the conjugation reactions of hapten molecules. Tetanus toxoid is not only a potent antigen, but also an effective polysaccharide and hapten immunogenic carrier protein. It can generate strong immunological responses in vivo.
Alternative Names
