Introduction

The presence of autoantibodies targeting the smaller isoform of glutamate decarboxylase (GAD65Ab) is a hallmark of Type 1 diabetes (T1D). To investigate the protective potential of GAD65Ab-specific anti-Id in T1D, monoclonal anti-Id mAb was developed in mice, targeting human GAD65Ab. This antibody demonstrated specificity for b96.11's antigen-binding site, recognizing GAD65Ab in human sera. Injections of mAb into Non Obese Diabetic (NOD) mice reduced diabetes incidence and delayed onset, highlighting its protective role.
