Vesicular System-based Drug Delivery

Vesicular System

Vesicular delivery system can be identified as highly ordered assemblies consisting of one or more concentric bilayers formed as a result of self-assembling of amphiphilic building blocks in presence of water.

Due to limited permeation of drugs into cells, conventional chemotherapy for the treatment of intracellular infections is not effective. The phagocytic uptake of the systemic delivery of the drug-loaded vesicular delivery system provides an efficient approach for delivery of drug directly to the site of infection, leading to reduction of drug toxicity with no adverse effects. Vesicular drug delivery reduces the cost of therapy by improved bioavailability of medication, especially in case of poorly soluble drugs. They can incorporate both hydrophilic and lipophilic drugs. Vesicular drug delivery systems delay drug elimination of rapidly metabolizable drugs, and function as sustained release systems. This system solves the problems of drug insolubility, instability, and rapid degradation. Consequently, a number of vesicular delivery systems were developed. Here show different vesicular delivery systems that have already been developed by us to offer clients services.

The chief benefit of lipid vesicular system is its ability to target drugs to the tissue in the body. Papers have already reported the applications of vesicular system for transdermal delivery of a wide range of drugs and active substances, which includes peptides, hormones and antibiotics, other active substances with poor penetration due to unfavorable physicochemical characters, drugs for immediate and targeted action, etc. Enhanced delivery of bioactive molecules through the skin by means of vesicular carrier opens new opportunities for the development of novel improved therapies.
