What is Cell Penetrating

Proteins are potential small-molecule reagents against disease-related targets because of the flexible size, complex structure, and important functions. However, the presence of tissue and cell barriers together with the low biomembrane permeability of most therapeutic proteins largely limits the systemic distribution. In this case, various chemical or mechanical methods are used to transfect cells with genes, micro-RNA, plasmids, and oligonucleotides. However, the current approaches may lead to high toxicity, low delivery yield, as well as immunogenicity. Besides, these methods are always not suitable for animal studies and in vivo experiments. Hence, the novel techniques are required to cross the lipid bilayer membrane of mammalian cells.

Introduction of Cell Penetrating Scaffold

Scaffolding proteins are modular proteins that assemble macromolecular signaling complexes or multimolecular signaling complexes and also modulate the function of associated proteins. Engineered protein scaffolds are important tools for a wide range of pharmaceutical and biotechnological applications. Thanks to their favorable biophysical and chemical characterizations, possibilities of engineered protein scaffolds have been explored in biological diagnostics and therapeutics. Now Creative Biolabs focuses on cell penetration properties to further improve the intracellular effect of the scaffold proteins.
