Vaccines for Virus from Caliciviridae Family
Creative Biolabs is a world leader in the field of viral vaccine development. With our strong expertise and advanced platform in vaccine field, we are therefore confident in offering the best vaccine development services for different types of diseases caused by virus from Caliciviridae family, including rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus and Norwalk virus. We guarantee the finest results for our customers all over the world.
Caliciviridae are a diverse group of small, single stranded, positive sense RNA viruses that infect man and animals. Viruses belonging to the Caliciviridae family which possess a single-stranded, linear, positive-sense RNA genome with T=3 icosahedral symmetry and a particle size of 27-40 nm in diameter. They are the major cause of gastroenteritis with common symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Generally, the transmission of these viruses is fecal-oral route (ingestion of contaminated food or water), but direct person-to person transmission is also possible through the inhalation of aerosol droplets. The viral replication process is cytoplasmic. The replication begins with the attachment of viral proteins to host receptors resulting in entry of the virus into the cell by endocytosis. Acidification of endocytic vesicles induces fusion and uncoating of the virion resulting in the release of the RNA genome into the cytoplasm. Translation is followed by RNA replication. Virus particles are assembled via intracellular budding and then released.
Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Vaccines
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) is a pathogen of rabbits that causes major problems throughout the world where rabbits are reared for food and clothing, make a significant contribution to ecosystem ecology, and where they support valued wildlife as a food source. The high mortality caused by RHDV has driven research in protecting rabbits from infection. RHDV is an unusual calicivirus in that it has served also as an important model in the family Caliciviridae by providing a range of beneficial outcomes as diverse as the creation of virus-like particles (VLPs) for vaccine and therapeutics delivery.
There are several types of vaccines available to prevent clinical signs and mortality caused by RHDV, such as inactivated RHDV vaccines, live RHDV vaccine and virus like particles. The inactivated RHDV vaccines have the advantages that assure no replication of vaccine virus and no deleterious effects on the foetus, does not cause abortion, or have any impact on weaning. The rabbits under vaccination showed a potentially potent immune response. The live combination vaccine includes a live myxoma-vectored RHD virus strain 009 and it offers the duration of immunity of 1 year against both RHD and myxomatosis. Virus-like particles (VLPs) was made by recombinant VP60 which has been produced in the baculovirus system was able to induce protection against a lethal challenge with RHDV in rabbits.
Norwalk Virus Vaccines
Norwalk virus (NoV), a norovirus, thought to be responsible for roughly 90% of epidemic, non-bacterial outbreaks of gastroenteritis in humans around the world. Diseases were caused by NoV is characterized by diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain. People develop symptoms of gastroenteritis among 12 to 48 hours after being exposed to NoV.
The vaccine research on NoV is still in the clinical research stage, mainly based on virus-like particles (VLPs). These different structures of VLPs include a NoV VLP-rotavirus protein combination vaccine, a monovalent NoV VLP formulation, a NoV P particle construct vaccine and a combination with VLP-norovirus GII.4 and enterovirus 71. In animal experiments, theses vaccine candidates may offer additional value to areas of the world where both these diseases are prevalent due to they can induce strong and high-avidity NoV and broad NoV-neutralizing activity of the sera. In short, these VLPs provide more possibilities for vaccine establishment against Norwalk virus.
