4-[3-(Trifluoromethyl)-3H-diazirin-3-yl]benzylamine Hydrochloride is often used as a photoaffinity labeling reagent. It contains a diazirine group, which is a highly light-sensitive functional group. When exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, the diazirine group forms a highly reactive carbene intermediate, which can then covalently bind to nearby biomolecules, allowing for the identification and characterization of protein-ligand interactions.
