Creative Biolabs offers customized, top-quality functional assays for complement C3 convertase, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies and extensive scientific expertise to assist clients in progressing complement system-targeted therapies.
C3 convertases are protein assemblies generated either through the involvement of the activated C1 complex, C2, and C4 (C4b2a, classical activation pathway), or by C3 itself in conjunction with factors B and D (C3bBb, alternative pathway). These convertase enzymes play a crucial role in the complement cascade by cleaving C3 and C5, processes that are essential for nearly all complement effector functions. C3 convertases split C3 into C3a, a chemoattractant molecule, and C3b, which covalently attaches to target surfaces and initiates phagocytosis.

The complement C3 Convertase functional assay is a laboratory approach devised to evaluate the activity and function of the C3 Convertase component within the complement system across a variety of samples. This assessment can be carried out using hemolytic tests and ELISA techniques. Additionally, we also offer SPR chips that are employed to analyze the sequential assembly and dissociation of convertases.
In complement research, since all pathways converge at the convertase stage, one of the key functional assessments focuses on measuring convertase activities and examining the influence of specific components on these activities. Through the implementation of functional or activity assays for the C3 convertase, we can evaluate and analyze its function at a quantitative level.
Creative Biolabs offers C3 convertase functional assays to support our esteemed clients in various applications, including: (1) elucidating the molecular biology of convertases, (2) characterizing the actions of known complement inhibitors, (3) examining the impact of deficiencies and mutations in complement proteins linked to diseases, (4) discovering novel and specific convertase inhibitors, and (5) facilitating the customization of anti-complement therapies to improve disease treatment.
