Algae Simple Sugar Quantitative Testing Service

Your Satisfaction with Algae Carbohydrate Analysis Is Our Commitment

Algae are rich in carbohydrates, and exploring their monosaccharide content is critical to understanding their nutritional value and potential applications. Creative Biolabs offers a customizable algae simple sugar analysis service according to our extensive experience in Biomass Compositional Analysis such as Algae and efficient analytical techniques. Whether clients would like to understand the nutritional composition of algae or explore potential applications in the production of biofuels, food, etc., our analysis of monosaccharides in algae provides valuable insights.

The composition and relative amounts of carbohydrates may vary among algal species. We mainly mine information on algal carbohydrates by analyzing the total sugar content and each of the following monosaccharides. This process is customized to the client's specific requirements and research objectives.

  • Total sugars content
  • Arabinose
  • Xylose
  • Rhamnose
  • Galactose
  • Glucose
  • Mannose

At Creative Biolabs, we have compared the effects of different conditions for analyzing the monosaccharide composition in algae for the accuracy of results, resulting in an optimized ion chromatography process. The analysis results provide valuable insights for various information on algae.

Published data

Kappaphycus alvarezii has a high carbohydrate content and is widely used for bioethanol production among others. In this study, K. alvarezii was examined for its chemical composition such as protein, carbohydrates, and ash. The yield of carrageenan extracted from it and the potential for glucose production were investigated. The researchers found that the chemical composition varied among K. alvarezii, with the green and brown strains having higher carbohydrate content. Also, these two strains were efficient in producing glucose. This study demonstrates the potential of K. alvarezii to produce glucose through biorefining and also provides a demonstration for us to detect and analyze carbohydrates in algae.

FAQs

Q1: How do we quantify the monosaccharide content of algae?

A1: This process involves the hydrolysis of carbohydrates in algal samples by specific hydrolysis methods (e.g. acid hydrolysis). The monosaccharides in the hydrolyzed products are effectively analyzed by ion chromatography, gas chromatography, and other methods. We develop custom analysis plans and perform accurate testing according to the specific needs of our clients.

Q2: Why is algal monosaccharide analysis important?

A2: Analysis of algal monosaccharides is useful for assessing the nutrient content of different algae and for studying value-added pathways. Algae are a potential source of bioethanol production, food ingredients and pharmaceuticals, biofertilizers, etc. Analysis of monosaccharides in algae also provides valuable information to optimize their utilization in various industries.
