Algae Sterol Quantitative Profiling Service

Delivering Precise Results for Anyone's Algae Sterol Analysis Needs

With functions such as controlling membrane permeability and fluidity, sterols have potential applications in areas such as drug development, and algae are a rich source of them. At Creative Biolabs, we are equipped with sophisticated assay technology and experienced scientists to provide a customized algae-free sterol analysis service. Based on our Algae and other Biomass expertise, state-of-the-art facilities, customized solutions, and reliable results, we help our clients make accurate analyses and advance algae analysis, applied research, etc.

  • Experimental method
Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS): GC-MS has the advantages of high specificity, high sensitivity, and fast analysis speed, which is used by us to separate and identify Fatty Acids, free sterols, etc., in algae. We have optimized the GC-MS conditions for the detection of algal-free sterol to ensure the accuracy and precision of the results.
  • Experimental process

Our advanced analytical techniques enable us to accurately analyze free sterol in different types of algae samples.

  • Sample treatment: Our experimentalists carry out pre-treatment according to the type of samples.
  • Extraction: The extraction process, such as the method and extraction solvent affects the concentration and type of sterols in the extract. We have optimized the extraction protocol for algae-free sterol to ensure the accuracy of the results.
  • GC-MS analysis: There are significant differences in free sterol content between different algae. We detect the following free sterol contents in the samples by a high-precision GC-MS analysis system.
    • Stigmasterol
    • Cholesterol
    • Ergosterol

Published data

Sterols have been better studied as one of the major metabolites in microalgae and are an important source for drug development. This paper shows us more than a dozen different structures of sterols in microalgae, which also demonstrates the diversity of sterol structures. Because of the low sterol content in microalgae, their structures are more difficult to analyze. The researchers pointed out that at present, free sterols were usually obtained by acid and base hydrolysis, and then they were studied by GC or GS-MS methods. Besides that, the technique of liquid chromatography coupled with MS was also a reliable method. Through this study, we have learned some sterol structures in microalgae and supported us in optimizing and analyzing algal sterols.
