Seaweed pigments are used in food and textile industries due to their good properties. Creative Biolabs, as a leader in the field of Biomass analysis, provides a leading-edge, custom seaweed pigment analysis service to support researchers, scientists, and corporations in all types of seaweed research. Our pigment analysis service is available for a wide range of seaweed and sample types.
We accurately analyze various types of pigments in seaweed by ion chromatography. Ion chromatography has the advantages of good separation, simple operation, mild conditions, and high sensitivity. As with Amino Acid Analysis, Fatty Acid Analysis, and other Seaweed Analyses, our analytical methods have been developed and validated to provide accurate and reliable results. The pigments that are analyzed include the following:
Creative Biolabs provides an accurate and detailed seaweed pigment analysis service. We use ion chromatography techniques for the accurate detection and analysis of seaweed pigments. Please feel free to contact us for more detailed information about seaweed pigment analysis if you are interested in our services.
It is found that seaweeds contain a variety of compounds including pigments, vitamins, and phenolics, which have good antioxidant activity. In this study, the content of compounds including pigments, phenolics, and vitamins in eight seaweeds was examined and the correlation between these compounds and antioxidant activity was evaluated. The results showed that β-carotene content was 0.55 mg/100 g and fucoxanthin content was 3.12 μg/g. Pigments are powerful antioxidant compounds. This study provides data support for exploring the potential applications of seaweeds as functional foods. It also provides a demonstration for us to detect and analyze the pigments in seaweeds.

Q1: Why is seaweed pigment analysis important?
A1: Chlorophylls, carotenoids, etc., play vital roles in photosynthesis and coloration of seaweeds. Analysis of seaweed pigments helps to understand the specific pigments of seaweeds, assess the value of seaweed applications, biorefining, etc. In addition, it is also used to help assess the impact of environmental factors on the physiology of seaweeds.
Q2: What analytical techniques are used for seaweed pigment analysis?
A2: The commonly used techniques for seaweed pigment analysis include spectrophotometry, ion chromatography, and thin-layer chromatography. They can quantify and identify various pigments in seaweed samples.
