  • Experimental program

BMP demonstrates the maximum amount of methane that is produced by anaerobic digestion of various biomass resources. The high precision of its assays is critical to accurately assessing the BMP of various feedstocks. We have several reliable assay systems to digest a variety of samples from our clients and to determine the biogas production during the digestion process. The analysis includes the following components:

  • Sample treatment: We incubate the anaerobic inoculum mixed with the sample in a closed reactor for some time and mix the contents. This process, in which the sample is anaerobically digested and biogas is produced, lasts for 12, 21, 28, or 40 days as needed.
  • Biogas analysis: The amount of biogas is monitored at all times while the sample is being digested to obtain a biogas accumulation graph. Afterward, we analyze the biogas for its components, including methane, ammonia, oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon dioxide.
  • We also test the total solids and volatile solids content of the samples.

Highly accurate BMP detection is important for the efficient operation of biogas plants. In this study, the effect of the inoculum and digestion system on measurement variability was examined. By comparing the researchers found that different digestion systems and inoculants could affect the methane yield. Multiple factors such as inoculum, substrate, and digestion system need to be considered when optimizing the process. This study provides a demonstration for us to analyze BMP.
