Overview

Gastrointestinal stromal tumor is a rare gastrointestinal tumor that usually occurs in the smooth muscle cells of the gastrointestinal tract. It is a non-malignant tumor, but in some cases, it may develop into a malignant tumor known as a sarcoma.
