CFC (Colony-Forming Cell) Assays

Creative Biolabs supports the CFC (Colony-Forming Cell) assays services and offers the expertise to assist clients in assessing the capacity of various test cells to proliferate and differentiate along various lineages.

Applications

  • To detect the number of colonies formed by cell proliferation and to calculate colony-forming efficiency.
  • To evaluate cells’ capacity for differentiation and proliferation across various lineages.
  • To determine whether it can be used as a model for drug screening.
  • To understand the pathogenesis and pathological features of cell-related diseases.

Approaches

Plate clone formation

Suitable for cells grown in apposition, including cultured normal and tumor cells.

Flow cytometry

Suitable for non-anchor-dependent growth of cells such as hematopoietic stem cells, tumor cell lines, and transformed cell lines.

Soft agar colony formation

The differentiation state of cell populations can be determined using flow cytometry.

Morphological investigation

Information on the lineage and maturation degree of the cell population is supplemented by morphological investigation.

Process of CFC Assays

Cell Culture
Adding nutrients and cytokines
Tested cell proliferation and differentiation into discrete forms of colonies.
Evaluating colony quantity and shape, which are indicators of cells’ potential to proliferate and differentiate under specific conditions.
Evaluating the colony's level of differentiation.
Gene expression profile analysis.
Imaging gene mutation colonies.
Selection and analysis of captured target cell colonies

Multiple types of CFC analysis services at Creative Biolabs

Myeloid Progenitor Assays Contributing to the understanding of the activities of hematopoietic system maintenance and the study of leukemogenesis.
Megakaryocytic Progenitor Assays Using serum-free medium as the main component for cell expansion and counting to help study the role in delaying thrombocytopenia and improving hematopoiesis after stem cell transplantation.
Erythroid Progenitor Assays Giving important clues for the diagnosis of blood diseases and the understanding of the pathogenesis of anemic diseases.
Lymphoid Progenitor Assays Contributing clues to the study of negative effects such as cellular immune dysfunction.
Mesenchymal Assays Mesenchymal cells have the potential to be used in cell transplantation and induce differentiation into hematopoietic stem cells due to their easy expansion and low antigenicity.
Leukemic Colony-Forming Cell Assays Contributing to the understanding of leukemia pathogenesis and intervention.

Creative Biolabs has a professional CFC analysis system that allows the identification of multiple cell colony types and helps to differentiate cell lineages. Please contact us to inform us of your requirements.
