3D Ex Vivo Human Ureter Relaxation Model Introduction

Creative Biolabs is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art 3D ex vivo human ureter relaxation models for global researchers. Our cutting-edge ex vivo model revolutionizes biomedical research, offering an unparalleled platform to study human organ functionalities in a controlled and realistic environment.

Ureter and Kidney Stone

The ureter is a tubular structure composed of muscular and mucosal layers located retroperitoneally. It extends from the renal pelvis to the trigone of the bladder. Its primary function is to transport urine and is aided by the valvular mechanism of the ureterovesical junction, which effectively prevents the backflow of urine from the bladder into the ureter. When kidney stones descend with the urine, they can become lodged at the narrow points of the ureter, causing ureteral colic and urinary obstruction. While these urinary stones are not life-threatening, they can lead to severe inflammation and a significant reduction in the quality of life.

Traditional Model for Ureter Relaxation Research

Due to significant physiological structural differences, traditional animal models are not ideal for studying the ureter. The human ureter has an average length of 26-28 centimeters and contains three narrow points prone to stone formation. Commonly used animal models, such as hamsters, exhibit notable anatomical differences in the ureter. Additionally, the types, quantities, and distributions of hormone receptors in experimental animals differ from those in the human body, increasing the likelihood of false-positive results in various tests.
