As a preeminent contract antibody development company, Creative Biolabs offers high-quality in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services targeting a wide range of biomarkers. Here, we focus on the diiodotyrosine (DIT) marker of sepsis. We are committed to providing the highest quality of custom services and products at the most reasonable prices.
General Description of Diiodotyrosine
Diiodotyrosine (DIT) is not only a precursor in the production of thyroid hormone but also a modulator of the enzyme thyroid peroxidase. The patients originally described were hypothyroid, with goiters presenting at birth or shortly thereafter. DIT exists as a relatively specific serum parameter for the presence and course of severe bacterial inflammations. The measurement of DIT could be used for providing useful clinical information, particularly for monitoring the time course of deep-seated infections. The report has shown that the administration of diiodotyrosine to patients with hyperthyroidism contributes to a striking amelioration of symptoms and a sharp fall in the basal metabolic.

Diiodotyrosine as A Novel Biomarker
Many biomarkers have been evaluated for use in sepsis and most of them had been tested clinically, primarily as prognostic markers in sepsis. However, relatively few have been used for diagnosis due to insufficient specificity or sensitivity in clinical practice. Studies have been conducted to evaluate this pathway in vivo and the possible clinical relevance of DIT measurements in diseases with increased leukocyte activity. These elevations of circulating DIT could neither be correlated with changes in renal function nor attributed to drug effects. The results of the present study do not allow any definitive conclusions to be made about the mechanisms underlying the phenomenon of increased serum DIT levels in infections. Recent discovery has shown that DIT might be a novel marker of leukocyte activity in severe infections and sepsis.
