As a leading CRO of antibody generation and development, Creative Biolabs offers application-specific antibody development services to global clients. With experienced scientists and advanced technology, we have established a series of high-quality in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services against biomarkers of different diseases. Here, we introduce our IVD antibody development services for IL-5 marker.
General Introduction of IL-5
IL-5 is a glycoprotein and a member of the cytokine superfamily. IL-5 is associated with the proliferation and differentiation of eosinophils. IL-5 induces terminal maturation of eosinophils and enhances eosinophils effector function. Via binding to the receptor complex, IL-5 makes a contribution to the recruitment of adaptor proteins, including SHC1, GRB2, and SOS1. This makes a result of the activation of the Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK cascade. Subsequent activation of transcription factors, such as JUN and ELK-1 regulates the expression of genes and control the cell growth and differentiation. IL-5 stimulation also resulted in the activation of PI3K/AKT/RPS6K pathway resulting in the phosphorylation of RPS6 and regulation of gene expression. IL-5 plays a key role in phosphorylation and activation of JAK, which in turn results in the activation and nuclear translocation of STAT proteins. The STAT transcription factors are responsible for the expression of early response genes and feedback inhibitor of JAK/STAT pathway.

Novel Role for IL5 in Sepsis
Sepsis is defined as the systemic inflammatory response to infection effects. In sepsis, activation of innate immune effector cells including neutrophils (PMNs) and monocytes /macrophages play a crucial role in both the control of bacterial pathogens and the production of the majority of pro and anti-inflammatory cytokines observed. Novel research has demonstrated the expression of IL-5 on circulating PMNs and monocytes and increased levels of IL-5 are associated with increased survival suggesting a protective role for IL-5 in humans with sepsis and septic shock. It is suggested that IL-5 plays a role in the diagnosis of sepsis.
IVD antibodies have been commonly used in immunodiagnostic kits for the disease diagnosis and prognosis.
