As a leading CRO of antibody generation and development, Creative Biolabs offers application-specific antibody development services to global clients. With experienced scientists and advanced technology, we have established a series of high-quality in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody development services against biomarkers of different diseases. Here, we introduce our IVD antibody development services for IL-1β marker.
Introduction of IL-1β
IL-1β, a member of the 11 IL-1 families, is the best characterized and most studied in this family. As a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine, IL-1β plays a crucial role in host-defense responses to infection and injury. It is produced and secreted by a variety of cell types, including monocytes and macrophages. It is produced as an inactive 31 kDa precursor, termed pro-IL-1β, in response to molecular motifs carried by pathogens called ‘pathogen-associated molecular patterns’ (PAMPs). PAMPs act through pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) on macrophages to regulate pathways that control gene expression. Induction of pro-IL-1β expression is generally referred to as a priming step and is an inefficient secretion stimulus. The primed cell must now encounter a further PAMP, or DAMP (danger associated molecular pattern, endogenous molecules released from dead cells) to induce the processing and secretion of an active IL-1β molecule.

IL-1β in Sepsis
Also known as catabolin, IL-1β is a member of the interleukin-1 cytokine family. This cytokine is produced by activated macrophages as a proprotein, which is proteolytically processed to its active form by caspase-1. IL-1β is an important mediator of the inflammatory response and is involved in a variety of cellular activities, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. The role of IL-1β in sepsis has not been extensively studied. It has been reported that after simultaneous measurement of 17cytokines during the first seven days after admission of patients with sepsis, IL-1β exhibited persistent increases in those who died, suggesting that IL-1β may play a role in sepsis.
