3D Ex Vivo Human Stomach Tissue Model Introduction

The stomach is a vital organ of the human body and plays a vital role in many ways, such as participating in the digestion of food, releasing various enzymes, and protecting the small intestine from harmful substances. Stomach illness is relatively common in life, including many types, such as peptic ulcer disease, gastroparesis, and dyspepsia. Most cases of gastric ulcers, gastritis and gastric cancer are caused by bacterial infections. To meet the growing demand for research models, Creative Biolabs offers an attractive ex vivo human stomach tissue model that can be a powerful aid in your preclinical drug development.

Drawbacks of Traditional Models

Currently, many cell culture models and animal models are playing an increasingly important role in the research of gastrointestinal diseases. However, these models have some shortcomings. In terms of cell models, they generally consist of the same population of cells, whereas the stomach contains different types of cells. Furthermore, generating reliable results to predict in vivo response is a formidable challenge for cell culture models. As far as animal models are concerned, due to species differences, the models cannot truly simulate the real conditions of human gastric diseases. Importantly, animal models are lengthy and expensive to obtain results on gastric pathology. At present, the welfare of experimental animals is also a major hindrance in the promotion of animal models.

Human Stomach Tissue Model Establishment

Research relying on ex vivo human tissue requires consideration of various factors such as tissue supply, donor consent and anonymization of data. Therefore, ex vivo studies using human tissue are difficult to obtain. With an extensive network of hospitals and organ procurement organizations, we are confident in delivering high-quality human stomach tissue. Transporting the excised stomach into a sterile buffer is a critical step. After removing blood vessels and connective tissue, wash the gastric tissue with sterile buffer. The target tissue is placed in a specific medium for a period of time and replaced with fresh medium. We utilize proprietary methods and well-established equipment to maximize the preservation of physiological functions.
